Papillon Pavilion Dripping Springs

The outdoor pavilion was conceived of as a garden folly in the client’s landscape and pool area that sports a bocce ball court, large and well-tended vegetable gardens, chicken coop and roaming birds including a defiant and often slightly-mad rooster, bee hives, and a water garden that seems to grow in size each year. Upon completion, the owners christened the pavilion “Papillon” or butterfly. Design of the structure includes a full kitchen and bar, fireplace, bathroom and separate shower compartment, along with built-in seating to accommodate the many guests of the owners who are consummate entertainers. A hybrid steel and Douglas Fir framing system was designed to create a sensation of fluidity or flight.
