Providing urban design and landscape architecture services for the PB Americas planning team, we developed conceptual land use, circulation, streetscape, and park and opens space design for three potential light rail station areas throughout the City of Austin. The plans for the MLK STATION AREA represent one of three TOD Station Plans, including the Saltillo Plaza, and Crestview Station areas. With a strong emphasis on public participation and citizen input, the team worked through a series of planning charrettes for each area, developing final plans that were adopted by the City of Austin as the basis for specific design work that followed.

Parkland planning and conceptual design related to floodway processes were explored to provide space for ecosystem services including urban agricultural plots, stormwater temporary storage for irrigation, bioremediation potential, trail to streetscape connectivity, and a reforested corridor for the rail line.
